Your Pants Are On Fire

We all have told a lie in our lives. Some are so huge they snowball and you spend more time trying to support the LIE than trying to diffuse it. And some are small little ones. Like the ones we tell our children so they can sleep at night or ones we tell our partners because we’re hiding a surprise. But I have to say the worst liar of them all are the ones who you put your faith in, the ones who tell you they are your friend and then in front of your face( and in back of you) they spend all this effort to talk about you. Actually I’m not sure which is worse people who say terrible things to your face or behind your back who you thought were your friends.

If you spend so much effort lying to people and pretends to be their friends, what is the actual point of having them in your life? Wouldn’t it be easier to just have a sort of formality and cordial nature with them but to not actually be friends? I don’t want to be friends with somebody I can’t stand. Do you?  But I will be nice to them out of respect especially if they are nice to me. I will not go out of my way to hang out with them if I don’t like them. The same goes with our children. We tell them they have to be friends with everybody. They don’t actually really have to be friends with everyone but I think it’s important that they treat everyone with respect and with the manners we try so hard to instill in them. There is nothing to gain an empty relationships for us or for them.

In my opinion I would rather not have somebody call themselves my friend if they really don’t like me. I am not everyone’s cup of tea. And that is ok. You may not be mine. Just respect each other and one another’s space.

Nothing in particular happened to spark this lately. Just an occurrence that has happened to someone I know and it got me thinking and ranting. It’s a hard pill to swallow when you have someone in your life that you considered your friend and family only to find out they were nothing of the sort.
