“Raw” (Poem)

Expressing to my husband in poetry just a small piece of my soul for Father’s Day. Besides my children, loving him is what keeps me going.

“Raw”

My heart is the road
I saw you driving home
You stopped to pick it up

So it’s not alone

The sun was going down

When your finger touched my face

I never knew I wanted it this way

Bittersweet and raw

And our damaged souls

Wrapped around each other trying to get warm

Before I lay down

When the sky fades black

Know I never ever want to find my way back

From you
